Putting the Breath in Bodyworks

200 Hour Teach Training

During the Rooted Heart 200 hour yoga teacher training I explored the ancient roots of yoga, its philosophical foundations, and the ways these teachings inform modern life. My studies included key texts such as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, and other foundational works. I graduated from the program in June 2026

Anatomy & Physiology

I gained a deep understanding of the human body with a focus on teaching yoga safely and effectively. This included the muscular and skeletal systems, common injuries, alignment principles, and modifications to support students of all abilities.

Asana Practice & Teaching Methodology

I developed a strong and safe asana practice grounded in alignment, breath, and mindfulness. I was taught how to sequence classes, offer clear cues, and provide supportive adjustments that enhance each student’s experience.

Practical Teaching Experience

Through supervised teaching practice, I built confidence and skill in leading classes. I received feedback and guidance from experienced instructors, helping me refine my teaching style and approach.

Meditation & Pranayama

I delved into meditation and breathwork (pranayama) as tools for cultivating focus, calm, and clarity. I learned how to integrate these practices into my teaching to create a well‑rounded and grounded yoga experience.

Ayurveda, Ethics, Lifestyle & Self‑Care

I was taught the importance of living and teaching from a mindful, ethical foundation. This included yogic ethics, compassionate communication, and sustaining a personal practice of self‑care. I also studied Ayurveda—the Science of Life—and explored how the doshas influence practice, teaching, and daily living.

Teaching Styles

I explored a variety of yoga styles (including Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative, Yin Yoga, and Yoga Nidra) and learned how to adapt my teaching for diverse populations, from beginners to seniors and beyond.
